I’m James S.E. Riggs, a UX designer and educator currently working in Chicago. My design philosophy is simple; to create meaningful relationships. When I work on a project, I first think about how I’m going to start the conversation. This can be a conversation between a business and a consumer, a business to another business or a conversation I’m having with myself. In order to provide solutions to real problems, it’s important to first start from within. I take a detailed approach to solve problems and enjoy working within a team, but can also efficiently complete tasks on my own.
I’ve worked for various startups in the midwest and have helped create content, provide workflows, establish structure, solve problems and even built and taught a design curriculum. My own education is in psychology, graphic communications, and fine arts with a special love for sculpture and print design.
I spend most of my “downtime” building things with my hands and playing music in various projects. When I don’t have tools, instruments or a computer in my hand, you can usually find me at Montrose Beach playing with my dogs or lounging on the couch consuming the Criterion Collection.
I’m currently seeking design opportunities that challenge me and result in work that matters.
